If you compare to even just 10 years ago, I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s a huge difference to our working lives. And there are even more changes on the horizon… Health and wellbeing is a hot topic in today’s world, and even more so in the modern-day workplace. Companies just like Sodexo Engage, specialists in employee and consumer engagement, have a better awareness of just how important it is to focus on the wellbeing of their employees.
Gill Perry, Head of Learning and Development at Sodexo Engage, was keen to encourage employees to get away from their desks, disconnect with technology and digitally detox by holding a Wellbeing at Work Week for over 350 employees across their Milton Keynes and Camberley offices. This is where we came in!
By discussing the needs and requests of Sodexo employees, we devised their first Wellbeing at Work Week, which ran in September 2018. The wellbeing agenda needed to be both relevant and accessible across the working week, so we included sports and stress masseuses, posture experts, physiotherapists and both herbal and medicinal doctors who ran workshops and clinics.
We measured and helped employees understand their health numbers, and gave advice on fitness, nutrition, hydration and sleep…. In fact, it was a pretty busy week!
As an example, here’s just one of the workshop schedules we ran:
Here is just one example of one of the workshop schedules we ran:
|9.30 – 10.10am
|Cardiovascular health presentation
|10.30 – 11.10am
|A good night’s sleep presentation
|11.30 – 12.10pm
|1.00 – 1.40pm
|Digestive health and the microbiome presentation
|2.00 – 2.40pm
|Dealing with the menopause presentation
|3.00 – 4.30pm
|15-minute personal consultations
The week was so positively received, and it even expanded into another Sodexo office in Camberley just a few weeks later!
We got some great feedback too…
“Just wanted to thank you again for your support with our Wellbeing Week last week. All of your team were fantastic and the massages in particular went down a storm! The presentations and activities created a real buzz in the office and everything ran like clockwork. We’re currently gathering official feedback from the teams but I’ve already had a lot of people thank me personally and tell me how much they enjoyed it and how valued it made them feel which is absolutely amazing! Hopefully we’ll do it again soon.”
